Founding contributors can help define outlines, assemble source lists, identify gaps, review terminology, and test entries for clarity. Expertise in theology, history, canon law, liturgy, art, archival work, and editing is especially valuable.
A good first contribution
- Choose a narrowly defined topic with reliable sources.
- Write a one-paragraph lead that answers what the subject is and why it matters.
- Build a clear outline within the encyclopedia’s Catholic point of view.
- Cite primary sources and distinguish them from commentary.
- Link the entry to neighboring topics so it becomes part of the encyclopedia.
Editorial posture
Contributors write from the Catholic faith, not from a stance of religious neutrality. Present doctrine affirmatively, represent legitimate Catholic diversity, and say plainly when a proposition is heretical, erroneous, disputed, or historically contingent. Theological labels must be accurate and sourced; contempt for persons is never acceptable.
The ordinary editorial presumption is traditional and conservative while remaining obedient to the living Magisterium and the Church’s lawful hierarchy. Catholicism Wiki is neither a vehicle for liberal doctrinal revision nor an SSPX or sedevacantist project.
