Catholicism Wiki:Privacy policy

This policy describes information handled by Catholicism Wiki when a person reads, creates an account on, or contributes to the site.

Information collected

MediaWiki necessarily records technical information used to deliver and secure the site, including Internet Protocol addresses, request times, requested pages, browser or device information, and security events. An account records its username, credentials in protected form, preferences, and contribution history. An email address is optional unless a particular account function states otherwise.

Edits, usernames, timestamps, edit summaries, and public discussion-page contributions form part of the public revision record. Logged-out editing is disabled, but technical logs can still associate account activity with an Internet Protocol address for a limited period.

Uses and disclosure

Information is used to operate the encyclopedia, maintain accounts, prevent abuse, diagnose faults, enforce site rules, and preserve the integrity and attribution of the revision history. Catholicism Wiki does not sell personal information. Information may be handled by infrastructure and security providers, disclosed when reasonably necessary to protect the site or its users, or produced when legally required.

Cookies and anti-abuse services

MediaWiki uses cookies for login, preferences, session security, and related essential functions. If the account-creation form displays Cloudflare Turnstile, Cloudflare processes technical information under its own privacy policy to distinguish legitimate users from automated abuse.

Retention and choices

Public contributions and their attribution are ordinarily retained as part of the encyclopedia's permanent revision history, including after an account stops being used. Server and security logs are retained only as reasonably needed for operation, investigation, and backup integrity. Registered users can manage available email and cookie preferences through Preferences. Requests concerning private account information may be left for an administrator at User talk:Robert. Do not post confidential information on a public page.

Changes

Material revisions to this policy are recorded in this page's public history. Continued use after a revision is governed by the policy then in effect.
