Archdiocese
An archdiocese is the diocese entrusted to an archbishop; it is distinct from the wider ecclesiastical province over which a metropolitan may preside.

Archdiocese — (Archidioikesis, archidioecesis).[1]
This term does not designate an ecclesiastical province, but only that diocese of the province which is the archbishop's own, and over which he holds immediate and exclusive jurisdiction.
